Beautiful
Loxahatchee Groves
Loxahatchee
Groves
isn't for everyone. But for those who respect God's natural beauty,
peace and quiet, animals, land of their own to roam on, respect for
individuals and minding one's own business, Loxahatchee is probably
one of the nicest communities in Florida.
More
than 15,000 residents live in the Loxahatchee area and average family income
is about $65,000 per year.
Loxahatchee
has been around for years, one of Palm Beach County's best kept
secrets. But it's a secret no longer and families have been grabbing
up most of the available acreage for home and farms of 5-acres or
more.
It's
a country community and most families keep horses or other farm
animals on their property. There are virtually no regulations to
tell you how to live or what color to paint your home. You can build
whatever you please, as long as it is safe and meets construction
standards.
Where
just a few years ago buyers could pick up a 5-acre Loxahatchee lot for around
$50,000, the same lot now would cost about $500,000 or more today, based
largely on how close it is to a paved road and to major roads such
as State Road 80 (Southern Blvd.) and Okeechobee Blvd. Two-acre are
selling for about $250,000 and are hard to find. 1-acre lots in the
nearby Acreage are currently selling for around $200,000 or more.
But
if your dream is a large piece of land in Loxahatchee or The Acreage
(which is north and east of Loxahatchee, you had better make plans to buy
soon!
Loxahatchee
is west of Royal Palm Beach and north of Wellington. So shopping,
restaurants, entertainment, movies, etc. are within a 15-minute
drive.
You'll
find almost no commercialization in Loxahatchee except for two new
supermarkets and a couple of feed stores. Many have tried to build stores and
businesses in Loxahatchee but so far have been unsuccessful in
getting permission from the county, unless the business is
farm/animal related.
Loxahatchee
is an unincorporated area of Palm Beach County, and is supplied with
police and fire protection by the county.
Most
of its schools are new and as good as any in the area.
It is
just down the road a bit from the Wellington Green super-mall which opened
in October 2001 as one of the largest fully enclosed malls in
Florida. With at least five major department store anchors, hundreds
of shops, restaurants, office buildings and a hotel, Wellington
Green has already begun to increase property values in the village
as well as its neighbors, Wellington, Loxahatchee and The Acreage. |
